New Samsung Chromebook Expected in 2014 With Exynos 5420 Processor

Samsung’s Chromebook was one of Amazon’s three top-selling laptops this holiday season, but after over a full year on the market the South Korean company may be preparing to release a redesigned model in 2014. A report from Business Korea claims the Samsung will release a new Chrome OS laptop next year with improved specs.

Citing anonymous insiders, the report says Samsung’s new Chromebook will come equipped with an Exynos 5420 octa-core processor, a Mali-T628 GPU, 3GB of RAM, 16GB or 32GB of onboard storage, a display “of 12 inches or less” with an improved resolution of 2560 × 1600 pixels, and a battery capable of providing 7 hours of life.

There’s no word when Samsung will unveil its beefed up Chromebook, though the company denied any plans to show a new laptop during CES 2014. Considering the current Series 3′s lasting popularity, there’s clearly no rush to unveil a new model. Still, we bet the new Samsung Chromebook will launch sometime next year.
